TV Interview with Simon
Operations Director, Simon Heafield suffered from re-occurring stomach aches, bloating and frequently needed to rush to the toilet straight after eating.
After 5 years of these symptoms and 2 doctors’ appointments to seek GP advice, the 46-year-old decided to take action himself through YorkTest.
The food intolerance test revealed he had reactions to eggs and yeast. After eliminating these trigger foods, Simon’s symptoms were relieved within 3-4 days and ultimately wished he had taken the test sooner.
Over the last 5 years Simon Heafield, an Operations Director, suffered from a range of symptoms, including bloating and stomach aches, that slowly began to interfere with his day-to-day life.
“I felt dreadful, my clothes were really tight due to bloating and, therefore, mentally felt down about my appearance”.
Simon suffered from regular stomach ache and “frequently had to rush to the toilet straight after eating”. Amid a busy work life, his symptoms became increasingly problematic, especially if he was eating out in restaurants, unsure where the toilet would be.
Simon sought GP advice to see if they had any answers or insights into his symptoms, but his two GP appointments proved unsuccessful and considered their advice patronising and poor.
“I was sick of my symptoms. The doctor had fobbed me off saying it was normal. I wanted to take action as I knew it wasn’t right”.
Simon heard about the YorkTest on the Internet and through a recommendation from a colleague, whose friend had taken the test before. Realising he had nothing to lose, Simon decided to get tested.
The process, which involves sending a finger prick blood sample to the company’s laboratories to be analysed for reactions to up to 162 food and drink ingredients, revealed that Simon had reactions to yeast and egg. The programme includes a comprehensive guidebook and a 12-week food and drink diary.
To help with the elimination process, YorkTest also provides a 30-minute telephone consultation with one of our BANT* registered Nutritional Therapists. The elimination process was, at first, challenging for Simon as “yeast and eggs are in so many foods, but after advice from the Nutritionist and discipline from me, easy”. The nutritional consultation was very helpful and provided key information “not only about the intolerance, but also about general habits and wellbeing”.
Simon’s symptoms subsided after 3-4 days; “After a few days, I started to see the benefits. I was less bloated and had one visit to the toilet and not straight after food”. Simon feels he is no longer conscious on how he looks and feels more outgoing.
“I look great, look better (in my opinion!) and I am saving money by cooking all meals myself”.
When Simon re-introduces these foods back into his diet, bloating, severe stomach cramps and frequent toilet visits return.
“I wish I had taken the plunge years ago, as I knew something was not right. I will not be introducing the items back into my diet moving forward, as I am enjoying and reaping the benefits of healthy eating. Thanks, YorkTest!”
YorkTest advise that you consult with your GP first if you are experiencing the types of symptoms mentioned in this testimonial.
