This guide below gives an overview of each of the supplements and vitamins offered by YorkTest Laboratories….

Premium Dietary Supplement

Premium Dietary is a comprehensive digestive support which helps to maintain the ecological community of the gastrointestinal tract, nourish, and provide energy to the epithelial tissue, support the regulation of inflammatory responses, and maintain gut immunity.

It is a simple to use four-in-one supplement programme for 30 days in which all four aspects can be taken together at the same time during any meal. The four aspects are packed together on a serrated strip from which the daily intake can easily be separated.

The four aspects of this supplement are:

  1. Lactobacillus acidophilus, Lactobacillus casei, Bifidobacterium lactis (beneficial bacteria) with Acacia bark and Chicory prebiotic in a white capsule.
  • Freeze Dried Garlic Cloves in a slow-release white tablet.
  • Cinnamon Oil, Cinnamon Bark with Caprylic acid in a brown capsule, and like Garlic is nourishing to the intestines and complements its activity.
  • L-glutamine and N-acetyl glucosamine in a yellow tablet which provide specific nutrition for gut epithelial integrity.

The garlic provides all the nutritional benefits of a fresh garlic clove. The volatile components that can be lost through processing or cooking are retained, without creating the strong odour often associated with Garlic supplements and may suit individuals who are sensitive to standard one-off doses of garlic.

Natural Enzymes Supplement

Foods have to be broken down into smaller particles liberating nutritional components such as vitamins, minerals, and proteins, to make them readily bio-available prior to them being absorbed from the digestive tract.

Natural Enzymes contains real fruit extracts that are a natural source of digestive enzymes.

Natural Enzymes contains a combination of concentrated Pineapple and Papaya providing standardised proteolytic activity from these concentrated natural sources, helping to break down food.

Natural Enzymes also contains two separate strains of Lactobacillus acidophilus and two separate strains of Bifidobacteria. Lactic acid bacteria help convert milk sugar (lactose) into simple sugars which are more readily tolerated by sensitive individuals who may be lactose intolerant. They also help maintain the health and overall efficiency of the digestive tract, contributing to the maintenance of bowel regularity.

Suitable for those following a gluten or dairy free diet.

Gamma Oryzanol from rice germ may help maintain the integrity of the lining of both the stomach and intestine.

Suitable for vegans and vegetarians.

Gut Bacteria Supplement

Gut Bacteria supplies a synergistic blend of resident and transient strains of beneficial bacteria which in combination make a significant contribution to health and immunity. The most commonly used organisms are strains of Lactobacilli and Bifidobacteria. These are bacteria that naturally inhabit the human body. Many strains have been safely used for centuries in fermented foods and have no known toxicity or virulence. They are often referred to as “beneficial bacteria” as they form a part of our normal (commensal) microflora.

Gut Bacteria provides four different beneficial strains of lactobacilli and bifidobacteria – Acidophilus, Kefir, Bulgaricus and Bifidum, 10 billion live organisms per capsule and is FOS free, dairy free, gluten free and yeast free.

Gut Bacteria is in a form that remains intact during digestion to survive the passage through the digestive tract to reach the intestinal mucosa. Intestinal mucosa is critical to the synthesis and absorption of nutrients, providing important protection against potentially harmful agents and infection, and plays an important role in overall immune function.

Dietary Immune Supplement

Many individuals suffer with some form of long term dysbiosis and may only get temporary relief on a day-to-day basis. Dietary Immune provides exceptional nourishment with an intensive combination of lactic bacteria, complex plant fibres and fruit powders for specific immune support using food factors that lead to further by products that have a significant role in re-establishing symbiosis and health on many levels. Plant foods in combination with beneficial gut flora can form secondary metabolites which display many different health promoting biological activities.

Dietary Immune is a powder in a one-a-day sachet to mix in cold water or other cold drink. It makes a pleasant tasting drink from its fruit base of Pear pulp and Pomegranate with a combination of 50 billion live organisms – lactic bacteria cultures including Kefir and Acidophilus along with Pectin (a soluble fibre) and Larch Arabinogalactans (non-starch polysaccharides) which are an excellent source of dietary fibre that contribute to intestinal health.

Dietary Immune also contains Vitamin B6 and Vitamin C that contribute to the normal function of the immune system.

Non-dairy and is suitable for vegetarians and vegans.

Dietary Elimination Supplement

Maintaining the integrity and normal function of epithelial cells which line the body’s surfaces and fulfil many specific roles in the body is a primary factor in staying healthy.

Epithelial cells form a specialised component of many organ systems throughout the body and diet and exercise are vital components in helping maintain epithelial cellular integrity and providing the cohesive factors required to link them together. Various nutritional compounds found in dietary herbs and wholefoods, in Dietary Elimination provide substrates that support the role of epithelial cell activity and regulate their normal function.

Nutritional compounds found in Dandelion Leaf and Dandelion Root, Milk Thistle and Chamomile are natural dietary sources of Luteolin and Apigenin which help with maintaining normal epithelial cell function.

Green Tea and D-Limonene, an essential oil in Lemon and Orange peel, along with Nicotinamide (Vitamin B3) also provide nutritional support in helping maintain epithelial cell integrity.

Methyl folate

Folate is one of the B-vitamins naturally found in some types of foods. It is essential to form and develop healthy cells, especially red blood cells.
