The YorkTest test measures the delayed food intolerance reactions in the form of food-specific IgG antibodies. Allergy tests measure reactions caused by raised IgE antibodies.
YorkTest has been conducting health screening services for over 35 years.
If you have taken the FirstStep Test and it returns to you with a negative result, you have no food-specific IgG reactions – please call us to discuss further testing options. If you have taken a complete programme and it returns with negative food-specific IgG results, you will be refunded the full amount of the test, minus £25/€30 admin fee.
What to Expect from theFood&DrinkScan Programme
As individuals, our reactions to foods and drinks vary a great deal. An ingredient which may cause problems for one person could be completely acceptable for another. At YorkTest, we like to refer to this as our personal ‘food fingerprint’.
Discovering and understanding your own personal food and drink intolerance, and the effects they have on your health and wellbeing, is important to ensuring you make the best possible choices to balance your diet.
The YorkTest Food&DrinkScan kit contains all you need to take a small blood sample (2 – 3 drops) in the comfort of your own home. Simply return your sample in the pre-paid envelope provided (UK only) to our York laboratories for expert analysis. Your confidential results and additional support material will be posted to you within 10 days.
When you have received your results and are ready, you can contact us to book your appointment with one of our BANT* registered Nutritional Therapists. This half hour session will provide you with support and knowledge to assist you in your new diet, ensuring you are confident in the changes you can make to improve your health and wellbeing.

Do not take this test if you are:
- Suffering from a blood borne disease such as Hepatitis or HIV
- Pregnant or breastfeeding
- Under the age of 2 years
Raised levels of food-specific IgG antibodies within your blood indicate that an IgG antibody reaction to a particular food or foods has occurred. If you have already taken the decision to eliminate a particular food or foods from your diet they may not show up a reaction on your results. If you know of foods that cause you to feel unwell, do not start eating them; we do not encourage you to eat a food or foods which you already know are a problem to you.
Food&Drink Scan does not provide information about coeliac disease, enzyme deficiencies such as lactose and alcohol intolerance, IgE-mediated allergies, histamine sensitivity or other chemical sensitivities such as reactions to sulphites, tannins or tyramine. Food&DrinkScan is only recommended for people who have food and drink intolerance symptoms.
