Age: 57
Symptoms: belching, bloating, blocked nose
Food Reactions: cow's milk, juniper berry, goat's milk and egg white

“I learnt so much about the reason for my symptoms and what I can do to help myself.”

For years, 57 year old Counsellor Carole Taylor had been suffering with digestive symptoms, experiencing belching, a bloated stomach most nights and a blocked nose.

Carole explained how these symptoms had affected her during this time, “I felt uncomfortable. I would wake up in the night and take antacids. My favourite alcoholic drink is Baileys Irish and gin. I don’t drink often but when I did, I would go to bed with stomach pains and would feel bloated in the night. My sleep was also affected. I would drink soft drinks or water when going out or just limit myself to one glass of alcohol.”

Carole came across YorkTest, after her daughter had a food intolerance test and recommended it. “Because she learnt so much about her own food intolerances, she thought it might help me.”

After taking a Premium Food Intolerance Test, Carole found she had IgG reactivity to a number of different foods including cow’s milk, juniper berry, goat’s milk and egg white. Commenting on her results, Carole said “I am not surprised about the juniper berry because that explains the gin. If I drank too much coffee I would experience burping and therefore thought I was going to be intolerant to coffee; I was surprised it turned out to be the milk in the coffee.”

After eliminating her trigger ingredients, Carole saw visible improvements within six weeks, “Felt much better removing the diary. I love my milky drinks so I changed to Soy milk and Oat milk which I love. I will never go back to drinking Cow’s milk as I prefer the taste of these drinks. I no longer have the burping or bloating. The main change is a much improved sleep and not waking in the night with bloating. ”

Talking about her experience with trying to eliminate multiple foods from her diet, Carole said ” I found it very easy because there were alternatives.”

YorkTest analyses your IgG reactions to 200 food and drinks – from common ingredients like Cow’s MilkGluten and Egg, to health superfoods like kale and quinoa.

The process, which involves sending a finger-prick blood sample to the company’s laboratories revealed Carole’s intolerances. Following on from the test, the YorkTest Customer Service Team are on hand to answer any queries and offer follow-up advice. In her words, Carole found the customer service “very helpful, they were friendly and booked me a time which fit in my days off work” while the follow-up nutritional consultation was “very helpful because she helped me look at alternatives to dairy.”

When asked to sum up her experience with YorkTest and how her life changed since taking the test, Carole added: “I feel really pleased to have embarked on the process with YorkTest. I learnt so much about the reason for my symptoms and what I can do to help myself.”
