Alex Hunter

Symptoms: Dry, itchy, flaky skin and constant bloating

Food Reactions: Egg Whites, Yeast and Cow’s Milk

“I Feel Healthier and More Self-Confident Since Taking the Test”

74-year-old retiree Alex Hunter had dealt with persistent symptoms for years. Dry, itchy, flaky skin and constant bloating were part of daily life. His face often looked red and blotchy, which was something he found both embarrassing and uncomfortable, and the bloating made sleeping after meals difficult. Even worse, food felt like it was coming back up after eating, causing ongoing discomfort and interrupted rest.

These issues had a subtle but significant impact on Alex’s day-to-day lifestyle. He started avoiding evening social events or meals with friends and found himself swimming less (a hobby he once loved), all because he felt too self-conscious or uncomfortable in his own skin.

Having watched YorkTest help his daughter, Alex decided to take the plunge himself. He’d already tried several approaches over the years, including countless creams, pills, and avoiding late meals, but the symptoms persisted. His GP and hospital specialists prescribed topical treatments and medications, but nothing truly addressed the root cause.

When his YorkTest results came through, Alex was shocked. He had an intolerance score to egg whites, along with strong intolerances to yeast and cow’s milk. These were the “big three” that were likely behind many of his symptoms. Although he’d never suspected these foods, the clarity was a turning point.

Once he removed his trigger foods, the change was remarkable. Within 6-8 weeks, his skin cleared up and stayed clear. He felt more relaxed and confident when socialising again and even returned to swimming after an overlong absence.

He admits the elimination process wasn’t as easy as he’d hoped. “Eggs, yeast, and milk are in so much,” he said, noting that he now spends much more time reading labels. However, he stuck with it. In fact, he’s followed the new diet religiously ever since and feels comfortable and in control of what he’s eating.

He hasn’t knowingly reintroduced his trigger foods (though he does miss an egg roll!) and is happy to stick to the plan. The YorkTest nutritional consultation was a big help in finding safe alternatives, and he found the Customer Care Team to be friendly, attentive, and genuinely interested in helping.

While his life hasn’t dramatically changed in every way, Alex says the confidence boost and relief from skin symptoms have been invaluable.

If you’ve spent years trying creams, pills, or diets with no answers, YorkTest could help you finally get to the root cause. Take one of our simple at-home food intolerance tests and see what’s really going on behind your symptoms.
