Rebecca Lippett

Symptoms: breathing issues, coughing

Food Reactions: wheat, dairy, apples, garlic, tomatoes, onions

“Life changing in every sense”

40-year-old, aquatics tutor, Rebecca Lippett, was dealing with beathing issues and a persistent cough that were increasing in severity over a two year period.

When asked about how these symptoms affected her life, Rebecca said: “At the worst point after eating I was unable to breathe and felt like my throat was closing. Despite following the doctor’s advice for meals to reduce the likelihood of GERD symptoms, I was getting progressively worse, not sleeping and becoming progressively fatigued.”

Rebecca came across YorkTest from her own research decided to give food intolerance testing a try as the NHS did not offer allergy and intolerance testing in her area.

After taking the Food Intolerance & Allergy Bundle, Rebecca’s Food Allergy Test results indicated that her body was reacting severely to wheat which prompted Rebecca to start carrying an EpiPen with her and embarking on an elimination diet. Rebecca’s Premium Food Intolerance Test showed that she was also intolerant to apples, dairy, garlic, tomatoes and onions.

We asked Rebecca how she felt after removing her trigger foods. “Life has now returned to normal, it has taken a period of adjustment to get used to a change in diet and food choices. I am also working through an elimination process with my intolerances and have now managed to have apples, garlic and dairy back in my diet. Tomato and onion are still out!”

Our test analyses your IgG reactions to 200 food and drinks – from common ingredients like gluten and cow’s milk, to health superfoods like kale and quinoa.

The process involves sending a finger-prick blood sample back to YorkTest, Rebecca then received her results within 7-days through the Wellness Hub, in an easy-to-read traffic light-based format.

Eliminating the trigger foods and sticking to her diet plan has helped clear Rebecca’s symptoms, “After removing wheat, I saw an improvement fairly quickly. The major issues I was experiencing with the breathing aspect improved within ten to fourteen days.” Throughout the process, Rebecca also noticed a change in her weight, “Yes, a reduction. The diet prescribed by the doctor included a large number of simple carbs which made me gain weight and feel worse. Now I can breathe and return to sport. I’m sure the additional that has not yet gone will do so relatively quickly.”

When asked about her customer service experience, Rebecca commented: “They have been fantastic from the point of first order to the end of the journey.”

Similarly, Rebecca found her experience with the nutritional expert to be a positive one, “Extremely helpful in supporting my elimination diet but also for considering a few other areas that I have now applied for private testing to investigate.”

When asked how life had changed since taking the test and how she would summarise her experience, Rebecca concluded: “I am back to my old self and able to enjoy sports and daily activities. I have returned to swim training and I am back in the gym able to breathe! Life changing in every sense!”
