Nicola Garrett

Food intolerance test review
Symptoms: Tiredness/fatigue and brain fog
Food Reactions: cow’s milk, egg white, lotus root and yeast

“I feel so much better in myself and have a lot more energy. The best thing is to not have brain fog. I didn’t think I had weight to lose as I regularly exercise but I definitely feel the benefit. A perfect excuse to buy new clothes!”

Food intolerance test review

51-year-old Contract Advisor, Nicola Garrett was suffering from her symptoms for years. Her symptoms included constantly feeling tired and lethargic, as well as brain fog and the inability to concentrate. “If I didn’t eat regularly, I felt worse, so I was constantly grazing on food. I know now I was eating the wrong foods which didn’t help”.

When asked how these symptoms affected her day-to-day life, Nicola explained: “I would struggle to concentrate at work and felt it was taking me longer to do things. I would work extra hours to make up time which I felt I had lost”.

Nicola hadn’t tried any other solutions prior to taking a test with YorkTest, as she was completely unaware that it could be food and her diet that is making her feel this way. When made her decide to do a test, Nicola told us: “As my daughter had done a test, I decided to do one out of interest, I didn’t think the results would make such a difference to my life”. Nicola then bought a Premium Food Intolerance Test, after following her daughter’s advice.

Nicola’s results indicated that her body was reacting to cow’s milk, egg white, lotus root and yeast. The results surprised Nicola, as she had no idea that it was food causing these symptoms and didn’t expect to see anything on her results.

When asked how she felt once the trigger foods had been removed, Nicola informed us that the felt as though she had a lot more energy and that the brain fog had cleared.

The Premium Food Intolerance* Test analyses your IgG reactions to over 200 food and drinks – from common ingredients like Cow’s Milk, Gluten and Egg, to health superfoods like kale and quinoa.

The process, which involves sending a finger-prick blood sample to the company’s laboratories revealed the foods that Nicola was reacting to, in an easy-to-read traffic light style format, indicating which foods were highly reactive and which ones were only slightly reactive.

Eliminating trigger foods and sticking to a diet plan allowed Nicola to stop feeling so sluggish and removed the brain fog she had been experiencing. Following on from her free 30-minute consultation with a Nutritional Therapist, Nicola told us she found this useful: “The Nutritional Consultant was very helpful. I hadn’t realized there were certain foods which were yeast forming and so I would need to avoid those, i.e., mushrooms. Being a vegetarian, I ate a lot of them!”

Nicola added to this by telling us that her experience with the YorkTest Customer Care team was very positive: “very helpful and knowledgeable. During one phone call, I was made aware that dairy foods were mucus-forming which has also helped with another family member’s intolerances”.

When asked to summarise her experience, Nicola concluded with: “I feel so much better in myself and have a lot more energy. The best thing is to not have brain fog. I didn’t think I had weight to lose as I regularly exercise but I definitely feel the benefit. A perfect excuse to buy new clothes!”
