Emily Packwood

4 year old girl smiling at the camera in a glittery dress
Symptoms: diarrhoea, stomach aches, eczema, wheezing
Food Reactions: cow's milk

“A lot less stress for us as parents and a much healthier and happier little girl”

4-year-old Emily had experienced regular diarrhoea for six months. This was getting progressively worse to the point where Emily was beginning to lose bowel control. She also experienced eczema and had an unexplained wheeze that often required hospital visits. Emily’s condition caused her a lot of upset and considerable concern for her parents.

When asked how Emily’s symptoms impacted their lives, her father, Terri, commented: “It made us aware of everything. We started food diaries, changed washing detergents, stopped physical exercise and going out in the cold weather. It was a very helpless feeling as parents.”

After taking a Junior Food Intolerance Test with YorkTest, Emily discovered that her body was producing IgG antibodies when encountering cow’s milk – this was a surprise for Emily’s parents. “My daughter constantly drank cow’s milk, loved cheese and of course chocolate and ice cream. Milk is in everything!”

When asked how she felt after removing her trigger foods, Emily’s father added: “She improved dramatically. We never need the inhaler, have had no hospital trips for a wheeze, her stools are back to normal, she doesn’t complain of tummy ache, the eczema is gone. My little girl has put on more weight on her tummy and face.”

The Junior Food Intolerance Test analyses your IgG reactions to over 100 food and drinks – from common ingredients like cow’s milk, wheat and egg, to health superfoods like kale and quinoa.

The process, which involves sending a finger-prick blood sample to the company’s laboratories revealed the foods that Emily was reacting to, in an easy-to-read traffic light-style format, indicating which foods were highly reactive and which ones were only slightly reactive.

When asked how they found the elimination process, Emily’s father told us that “I did think my daughter would fight it more than she did. Her favourite things contained milk! But it was as if she recognised when we stopped giving her the trigger foods that she felt better also. She now tells people, “I can’t have that as it hurts my tummy.”

Emily’s father found the Customer Service Team “always very helpful” as was the nutritional consultation which Terri found “very knowledgeable and friendly. I asked a million questions and she was very patient”.

When asked how they would summarise their experience with YorkTest, Emily’s father concluded with “A lot less stress for us as parents and a much healthier and happier little girl. It gives you such peace of mind to understand what is happening in your little one’s body”.
