Jodie Wigley

Symptoms: Bloating, weight gain, skin problems

Food Reactions: yeast

“There is a sense of relief that I have some kind of answer for the issues I was having!”

33-year-old Jodie is a self-employed former teacher who had been suffering with severe bloating, gas, constipation, weight gain, tiredness, a coated tongue, and dermatitis. She had struggled with digestive issues on and off since she was a child, with the skin conditions developing during her teenage years.

Jodie explained how these symptoms had affected her over the years, “I was not keen on talking to people, as I had had comments about the smell of my breath. I was conscious of needing the toilet when I was out but not going because I just couldn’t. I began to wear larger clothes as I was putting on weight.”

“I felt uncomfortable, my clothes would feel tight. I was tired by the end of the day. I couldn’t enjoy all my food. I would get stomach pains and feel embarrassed about the sounds I was making. My skin would look awful, my breath was awful.”

Having tried visiting her doctor, going gluten-free and lactose-free, then getting a negative gluten intolerance test result at her GP, Jodie turned to the internet for answers. That’s where she came across YorkTest.

After taking a Premium Food Intolerance Test, Jodie found she had IgG reactivity to 12 different foods. Commenting on her results, Jodie said “Most of the foods I showed signs of intolerance to were part of my everyday diet, so it wasn’t surprising I was suffering. The highest reaction was to yeast, which would probably explain why I had a temporary success with going gluten-free in the past.”

After eliminating her trigger ingredients, Jodie has seen a lot of improvements. Within 5 months, the coating on her tongue disappeared and she has lost the weight she gained. “I felt a bit more energetic and was sleeping better, my skin started to improve as well.”

Talking about her experience with trying to eliminate multiple foods from her diet, Jodie said “I now do a lot of home cooking which I enjoy. I find different ways of creating my favourite meals without the foods that I am intolerant to. I have also started a website focused on yeast free living in the UK to share my experiences with others in a similar situation.”

“In order to feel better, I was willing to try anything. It was difficult finding replacements at first but that does take time, now I have alternatives that I’ve found.”

YorkTest analyses your IgG reactions to over 200 food and drinks – from common ingredients like Cow’s MilkGluten and Egg, to health superfoods like kale and quinoa.

The process, which involves sending a finger-prick blood sample to the company’s laboratories revealed Jodie’s intolerances. Following on from the test, the YorkTest Customer Care Team are on hand to answer any queries and offer follow-up advice.

When asked to sum up her whole experience with YorkTest, Jodie added: “I feel relieved and happy to finally get some answers!”
