“Much happier. I understand my body better and can control my symptoms.”

63-year-old consultant Graham Golding had been living with uncomfortable digestive issues for over a year. He was dealing with irritable bowel movements, stomach grumbles and ongoing discomfort, to the point where “too many bowel movements” and an urgent rush to the toilet became a normal part of his day. Nights weren’t much better; discomfort while sleeping and soreness from constant wiping meant good sleep was rare.

These symptoms started to shape his routine. Longer meetings and training sessions were difficult to sit through, and long journeys became a real worry. He had to think carefully about where the nearest toilet would be and whether he’d be able to get there in time.

Graham heard about YorkTest through a friend. There was no dramatic trigger moment: just a conversation that made him realise he didn’t have to put up with these issues. Until then, he hadn’t tried any real solutions and hadn’t spoken to his GP, so this was his first proper step towards getting answers.

The test results showed clear intolerances to cow’s milk, yeast and egg white. With this knowledge, Graham began removing those trigger foods from his diet – and the difference was striking. Within less than a week, his symptoms disappeared and his bowel movements became normal and much more comfortable.

With his digestion settled, longer travel stopped being a problem. In fact, he was able to enjoy a long-planned trip to Japan in May without any incidents, having gone “clean” for three months beforehand to give his body the best chance. The thing he’d been most anxious about ended up being event-free, which was a huge relief.

Sticking to the plan has been straightforward for Graham. He describes the elimination process as easy – once he sets his mind to something, he knows he can follow through. He did experiment with reintroducing some of his trigger foods, and was fine for the first couple of months, but a recent reaction reminded him why the changes mattered. These days, if he overdoes cow’s milk, yeast or egg white, he feels it – but now he understands exactly why.

The nutritional consultation was “very useful”; all his questions were answered and he left with practical advice he could apply straight away. He also found the Customer Care Team very helpful and supportive.

Now, Graham says he feels much happier, understands his body better, and knows how to keep his symptoms under control.
