Nick Lightfoot Profile

Nick Lightfoot

Symptoms: Fatigue, Bloating and Stomach Cramps

Food Reactions: Yeast Intolerance

“Happy, Enjoying Life, and Armed With Knowledge I Didn’t Have Before”

38-year-old Nick Lightfoot, who works in TV, began experiencing unexplained symptoms in late October 2024. He felt “off”: not ill, but just not right. He was tired, lethargic, often bloated, and struggled with stomach cramps and persistent brain fog. A general feeling of being subpar crept in and lingered.

While the symptoms weren’t debilitating, they were frustrating enough to affect his everyday routine. As someone who enjoyed running and staying active, Nick found himself avoiding exercise. Every attempt to “outrun” the problem left him more drained than before, and the discomfort never quite went away.

Hoping to get to the bottom of things, he visited his GP. Blood tests came back clear, but with symptoms persisting, his doctor recommended trying a nutritional test. That led Nick to discover YorkTest via a Google search. Impressed by the reviews and curious about what he might find, he decided to give it a go, despite never having done anything like it before.

The results pointed strongly toward an intolerance to yeast, something Nick had never even considered.

Initially, he focused on cutting out the obvious sources: bread, Marmite, and beer. But it wasn’t until his follow-up consultation with a YorkTest nutritionist that he learned yeast can hide in less obvious places, even in mushrooms. With expert guidance and helpful food alternatives suggested by the team, Nick committed to the process.

Within just a few weeks, the difference was noticeable. By the end of January, less than a month after testing, Nick’s energy was back, his bloating had gone, and his stomach cramps had eased. Best of all, he felt “normal” again. He got back into running, enjoyed his workouts, and started 2025 feeling like himself.

Nick admits he still occasionally consumes small amounts of yeast (like in lager), but he manages it carefully and rarely experiences symptoms now.

He found the elimination process straightforward, crediting the YorkTest team (especially his nutritionist, Emily) for going above and beyond with support. The customer care and tailored advice helped make the transition easy and sustainable.

Now, Nick describes himself as “happy, enjoying life, but with a level of knowledge I didn’t have before.” He’s back on a manageable path with his nutrition, and glad he took the leap to get tested.
