How does it work?

70% of your immune system is in your gut. When you eat a food that you are sensitive to it triggers an immune response. Your body mistakes the food as a threat and works overtime to defend itself.

When you have IBS, your gut is overly sensitive and more likely to react to foods. This high reactivity is linked to all the common IBS symptoms:

  • Bloating
  • Stomach pain and cramps
  • Diarrhea, constipation, or both
  • Nausea
  • Excessive gas

Symptoms can take up to 3 days to appear, and multiple foods or drinks can be involved in a reaction. So it’s almost impossible to guess which ingredients are causing you problems without testing. *In a clinical trial, IBS patients saw significantly more improvement in their symptoms when following an elimination diet based on their food sensitivity results versus a generic elimination diet.

How is YorkTest different from a low FODMAP diet?

low FODMAP diet is often recommended for IBS sufferers. Whilst this approach can ease symptoms for some, it comes with challenges:

× Not personalized to you and your gut.
× Highly restrictive – hundreds of foods are high in FODMAPs.
× Difficult to follow – working out the FODMAP content of everything you eat is tricky.

Alternatively, the YorkTest Premium Food Sensitivity Test uses data from your immune system to provide your individual trigger food report:

✓ Pinpoints the specific foods that trigger an IgG immune response in your body.
✓ No unnecessary restrictions – you can choose to eliminate only foods you’re highly reactive to. This is usually 5/6 ingredients for most people.
✓ Additional nutritional support is available to help you get started.

We recommend working with a Nutritional Therapist or medical practitioner before making any changes to your diet.
