It’s important to take some time for yourself every day, even if it is just five minutes.Taking this time for yourself can really boost your mood and improve your overall health and wellbeing.

“If people want to have more energy to do the activities and hobbies they would like to, it may be time for them to take a closer look at their diet.”

The findings showed 60% of UK adults would be likely to change their diet to feel at their best more often.

However, only a third (33%) would be willing to give up their favourite food and 37% their favourite drink to feel healthier and more energetic.

As part of the YouGov survey, the 4,000 participants were asked to list all the foods and drinks they like to eat and drink. The findings revealed UK adults most enjoy eating everyday foods, such as bread, eggs and potatoes (80%); fruits and vegetables (79%); savoury meals, for example pasta and stir fries (76%), and sweet snack foods, including chocolate and biscuits (57%).

Interestingly, while the survey revealed 80% of people enjoy eating everyday foods, it also found only a quarter of them would readily give them up to have more energy and feel better.

More than three quarters (77%) of UK adults said they most enjoy drinking hot drinks like tea and coffee, however only 15% of people said they would stop drinking them to feel healthier and more energetic.

People would be willing to ditch sweet snack foods (54%), salty snacks (49%) and fried foods (54%) to feel their best, but only 14% would stop eating meals, such as the British favourite – a roast dinner.

Dr Gill Hart, Pioneer of Food Intolerance Testing, working in collaboration with the University of York, said:

“We don’t want people to give up their favourite foods and drinks. It’s not about giving up the things you love and enjoy eating and drinking. We don’t believe in a one size fits all approach, it is all about individuals finding out what foods work, and don’t work, for them.

“Many people associate food intolerances with digestive issues, such as bloating and IBS, however, fatigue and low energy are also symptoms of a food sensitivity. In fact, one in five people who came to us last year did so because they were experiencing extreme tiredness.

“Taking a reliable food intolerance test, which analyses your blood’s reaction to proteins in foods, is the quickest and easiest way to find out if you have a food intolerance. This allows you to fast-track your elimination diet, instead of cutting foods out one by one to identify a sensitivity.

“Changing their diet and identifying any food intolerances could unlock extra energy for people to be able to do more of what they would like to in their spare time, whether that is spending time with their loved ones, sightseeing or going for a run.”

About yorktest

yorktest customer David Brown felt constantly tired and lethargic, complaining of a ‘brain fog’ that made it difficult to focus and think clearly.
