Dairy free drink taste trial
YORKTEST PUT MILK ALTERNATIVES TO THE TEST.
With entire supermarket isles dedicated to “free from” foods the days of restrictive
choice for
intolerance suffers look increasingly numbered. This month we review milk alternatives,
all bost to taste great and worthy substitutes to Milk. But how good do they actually
taste?
Up for review:
Sainsbury’s free from Rice drink £0.99 for 1 litre.
1.2g fat per 100ml
61 k cal per 100ml
First Oat Supreme £1.25 for 1 litre.
1.31g fat per 100ml.
28 kcal per 100ml.
Sainsbury’s unsweetened Soya Milk £0.99 for 1 litre.
1.2g fat per 100ml.
21kcal per 100ml
How did we run the taste review?
We needed volunteers passionate about free from choices and werent shy of expressing
an opinion so what better place to run the taste trial than Yorktest head office.
And the winner is...
Sainsbury’s free from rice drink
Scoring
3/5 for taste
4/5 for Smell
5/5 for consistency
80% of people saying they would use it again.
Great value for money at £0.99 for 1 litre!
Both the Oat and the Soya alternatives scored badly on taste, smell and consistency.
The Oat supreme was disappointing as when added to hot water it separated and
congealed.
If you like the sound of rice milk as an alternative to cows milk then why not
try our recipe for a healthy and delicious smoothie.
