No Chocolates for Sally this Valentines Day!
Darren Eyres was a romantic at heart and would always send chocolates to his
wife for Valentines Day. But the joy was short lived when Sally would feel ill
the following day. It was a situation that had frustrated the Sheffield couple
for years and was only resolved after she discovered that she had a food intolerance
to dairy products.
“Darren used to send me chocolates to work and although it was a lovely surprise,
I would eat them and feel ill the next day.
“I’d been unwell for seven years and despite regular visits to the hospital had
not got any better. On a bad day I would not be able to go to work and have to
spend the whole day in bed. Even when I went in I could pass out on the tram or
bus.
“My husband told me about a food intolerance test called the FoodScan113 and
after reading about it decided I had nothing to lose. I sent away a few drops
of blood and two weeks later received results that reported I had food intolerance
to dairy products and of course that meant chocolate. As soon as I cut it out
I got better within days. I also had to cut out peas, salmon and yeast.
“I’ve told Darren not to send chocolates this year. No chocolates equals no illness.
I’m even losing weight and not complaining. Flowers are an acceptable substitute.
It really has changed my life.”
